CURRICULUM PROGRAMS FOR YOUTH

LEARN LIFE SKILLS WITH LONG LASTING RESULTS!

YOUTH PROGRAM RED DEER

EVERY YOUTH LEARNS

DIFFERENTLY.

There are three types of learning styles: visual, auditory and kinesthetic. There are also two ways to learn: cognitive and experiential.

This life skills youth program encapsulates all styles of learning through hands-on experiences with our special teachers: the horses.

YOUTH LIFE SKILLS RED DEER

LEARNING THROUGH DOING.

Research shows that learning through participating is more effective than classroom learning, as the participant is an active, engaged player in the learning process.

These experiences can be paralleled back to everyday life to make solid decisions in everyday scenarios, giving them the ability to reflect and gain new insights.

YOUTH SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

INTERACTIVE GROUP

CHALLENGES.

Each fun, interactive group challenge is specifically designed to meet an objective that will enable the participant to maximize their learning potential and develop necessary individual skills, through the only Internationally Recognized Equine Assisted Learning Program.

APPROVED BY THE CALGARY BOARD OF EDUCATION!

GIVE OUR YOUTH LIFE SKILLS THAT WILL HELP THEM TAKE ON THE CHALLENGES LIFE THROWS THEIR WAY.

These life skills help with personal growth and can be used in all areas of the youth's life including, but not limited to, home, school and work environments. The horse is the teacher and makes sure the child has teachable moments they will never forget. These experiences can then be used down the road in life to make solid decisions and face challenges in everyday scenarios. The program is an objectively driven curriculum ranging from 8-12 sessions which allows for the facilitators, horses and youth time to ensure effectiveness and track the growth of each child.

HORSES ARE THE ULTIMATE EDUCATIONAL

INSTRUMENT FOR CHILDREN.

The children are taught the basics and safety of working correctly with the horse to become the leader the horse is desiring. A horse is all about safety and comfort. When the child becomes the leader the horse needs; the horse will fully cooperate and follow the child’s intention.

We know that every child learns differently. A bonus of working with the horse in these skills development activities vs activities in a classroom is the interactivity between the horse, who is the teacher, and the youth. And we know we all learn and retain through experience!

TEACHER

HANDS UP!

IF YOU'RE READY TO LEARN LIFE SKILLS THROUGH A

HANDS-ON INTERACTIVE PROGRAM THAT IS FUN, ENGAGING AND EVERLASTING.

Horses understand how to differentiate between potentially threatening behaviour and a calm and assertive nature. Children and young people who have the chance to work through our youth development programs are able to learn how to modify their behaviour through sets of exercises that will remain with them for the rest of their lives. This type of teaching cannot be delivered in a classroom. It is the experience of being in close contact with horses that has the most effect on young people.

"The horse I worked with is a trooper. He doesn’t judge which is nice so you don’t have to worry about being judged. He is very unique and cute."

BULLYING - EVERYONE'S HEARD OF IT.

No one wants to become the victim of a bully, so let’s teach our youth bully proofing skills. What do victims of bullies have in common?

  • Poor communication skills.

  • Poor social skills.

  • Poor self-esteem and confidence.

Our skill building programs will help a child who is lacking in these skills, as they provide training in critical and social skills which improve communication, emotional, physical, cognitive and mental wellness, self-esteem and sensory and emotional regulation. Bully proofing skills CAN be taught!

ANTI BULLYING PROGRAM FOR YOUTH

ANTI-BULLYING

WHY CREATE MORE VICTIMS?

Often a bully is a victim in his own life, someone who does not know how and where to direct his aggression; therefore, targets others. Many bullies are suffering from their own unidentified issues including misdiagnosis and abusive backgrounds. Our programs are ideal for the child demonstrating aggressive behaviours as it helps develop positive leadership skills, choice making skills, goal-setting skills, responsibility, creativity and fun!

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

Victims of Bullying and the Bully! Through this anti bullying program, both the victim and the bully will develop the skills they are lacking in and each individual will take different directions and actions, depending on what they need. Teachers, counsellors, and principals feel youth who demonstrate behavioural difficulties and those who are withdrawn will benefit the most from the program.

LET'S WORK WITH A HORSE TO TEACH BULLY PROOFING SKILLS!

Research shows that the more senses we engage when learning the greater the likelihood the learning will be retained. If we involve learners through doing, we increase the probability that they will learn, retain and apply what they learned.

The exercises are designed to challenge the group to work together while developing individual skills at the same time. Teams will work to: develop relationships, accept responsibility and accountability for their actions, overcome obstacles to find change, look for creativity and innovation, work together, effectively communicate for positive benefits and learn the value of mutual trust, respect and personal integrity. All with horses as the teachers and all while having a blast!

HOW DO WE PREVENT BULLYING AND HOW DO WE HELP YOUTH STAND UP?

Why not have your students participate in a program which will teach them skills that are relevant to their future and provide them will the opportunity to learn from these experiences. Self-responsibility, self-reliance, self-confidence and increased self-esteem are all skills our youth need to have when leaving school and heading into the next chapter of their lives.
